Sculptor Oscar Miestchaninoff Taken by Death. Oscar Miestchaninoff, 70-year-old Russian-born sculptor, died at his Hollywood home, 6809 Iris Circle, early yesterday. His works are on display in museums throughout the world and in many private collections. He was of the artistically burgeoning Montparnasse of Paris after, the turn of the century and was a follower of Rodin, Maillol and Bernard. Work Shewn Here. Early last year 46 of his sculptural works and drawings were on exhibition at Los Angeles County Museum, among them his well-known standing figure of the "Nude Arranging Her Hair." Mr. Miestchaninoff had arrived in Paris in his teens in 1906 and by 1912 his work was placed on display. He lived and worked In Paris until the outbreak of World War II when he moved to New York. For the past few years he lived with his wife Beatrice, a singer, at the Hollywood address. In museums Abroad. His works are to be found in museums in Moscow, London, Paris, Philadelphia, Buenos Aires and Brussels and in some of the world's most important private art collections. He was known for his modernity and innovations and created a stir in the art world with a work of a torso of a man wearing a top hat. A portrait of the sculptor by Diego Rivera, the painter, is considered one of the latter's best works. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. today at the Hollywood Cemetery Chanel and entombment at Beth Olam Mausoleum. The Groman Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
