English: A few people on the internet and social media advocate a theory that the person in this photo is Emperor Meiji, but that theory is wrong.

This photo is from the photo album "Views and Costumes of Japan" published around 1877 by the photographic studio, "Stillfried & Andersen" which the Austrian photographer Raimund von Stillfried established.

It is one of the costume photos in this album, "Man in court costume wearing a kanmuri".

The person in this photo is not Emperor Meiji.

この写真は、オーストリア人の写真家、シュティルフリートの写真スタジオ「Stillfried & Andersen」が、1877年頃に出版した写真アルバム「Views and Costumes of Japan（日本の風景と衣装）」の中にある衣装写真（扮装写真）の一枚、「冠をかぶった装束姿の男性」である。
