English: View north from Christ Church belfry, Cricklade Street, Swindon (1). The image was taken on a day when the church 331475 was holding a fete in the grounds and the belfry was open. The houses in the foreground are at SU157841. Looking left to right just below the skyline, the first tower block is at SU149881 whilst the next two are at SU153883. All are in Penhill, a 1950s housing estate. The white building in the centre is Wickes DIY store at SU158855, or it was. Wickes have recently opened an even larger store on another site north of this location. Towards the right of the image is a clock tower which is a Tesco Extra store at SU159854 118815 and just below and to the right of that is the north stand of Swindon Town FC at SU159850. 118816 |
