Transliteration правіць

I can't speak Belarusian unfortunately, so this has to be in English. Kiska is a Hungarian name and Hungarian s corresponds to Slovak š, so Кішка would probably be a better transliteration. Mulder1982 (размовы) 09:04, 7 красавіка 2015 (MSK)Адказаць

Dear Mulder, You could be right about Kiska's ethnicity and probable transliteration of his name. Unfortunately, in Belarusian we use direct transliteration from Slovak language with Belarusian phonetic rules. So if Kiska has surname „Kiska” in his Slovak passport, we will write „Кіска”. If he has „Kiška”, we will write „Кішка”. Could You kindly give any source for Kiska's Hungarian ethnicity? If You do it, I will add the information that his surname could also be transliterated as „Кішка” from Hungarian. Ігар Барысавіч Цярэшчанка (размовы) 10:34, 7 красавіка 2015 (MSK)Адказаць
Unfortunately, I don't know if he is Hungarian by ethnicity. I haven't found anything that says so. But it's just that the name itself is Hungarian. Just listen to any Slovak (or Hungarian for that matter) news report, and you'll hear /kiška/. As you may know, Hungarians constitute the largest minority in Slovakia so there are a lot of Slovaks with Hungarian surnames (they can occasionally be transliterated into Slovak, so there are Slovaks with the surname Kiška. Also, the Hungarian surname Kiss (adjective meaning small) is also occasionally found in the form Kiš. (same with Nagy vs. Naď) In any case, I just thought I should point this out.
